This technical workshop will feature innovative ideas on how to save water and have a beautiful landscape. Program content is geared towards Master Gardeners, Retail Garden Center Professionals, Green Industry professionals and Water Conservation professionals.  The agenda topics will include:

  • Overview of current state and local drought conditions
  • Irrigation management information
  • How to conduct a self-audit for your landscape
  • A review of WUCOLS IV (Water Use Classification of Landscape Species)
  • How to convert a home landscape to be water smart
  • Plants for water smart landscapes
  • Resources for post-workshop support

Participants should have a working knowledge of the following terms:
1. Precipitation rates
2. Soil types and soil infiltration
3. Static and dynamic water pressure
4. Distribution uniformity
5. Irrigation scheduling
6. Hydrozones
7. Evapotranspiration
8.Cycle and soak
